Huawei Matebook 14 2021 Review
The Huawei Matebook 14 is a sleek laptop, which features a 2k full view display, powerful performance, good battery life, and features like the Huawei super device experience.
Before you buy a laptop, check this laptop buying Guide. Now, let’s find out if it is the right laptop for you.
Build & Design
Matebook 14 is a clean looking laptop, and the outer body is made of aluminium. The chassis is robust with a sleek feel to it. It has the right amount of thickness, which makes it durable yet easy to move around.
The gray color and finishing, both are good. I can see the attention to design details like the slight chamfered edges.
On the left side there is USB type-C, that can use to connect to an external device or charge your phone etc. You will also find a full HDMI and combo audio jack.
The right side features two USB-A ports, both supporting USB 3.2. However, in this time of age I think laptops should come with two USB- C ports instead of two USB-A.

Huawei Matebook 14 comes with a 2k eye comfort full view display, an IPS led touchscreen panel with a glossy finish to it.
As the display name suggest, it also features eye comfort mode and anti-flickering technology that work together to make sure that long work sessions are less straining on the eyes. For me it works well as I spend most of the day sitting in front of my laptop, especially in lower light situations.
It has a 3:2 aspect ratio, which helps giving you more viewable area. The display quality is stunning with an incredibly slim bezel around the screen. It gives you an impressive 88 percent screen to body ratio, which I think is great.
I loved the display quality especially when I’m creating content. The level of vibrancy, colors and contrast is on another level. However, it has a standard 60Hz display, which I think gamers don’t prefer these days.
If gaming is your main priority then look for a laptop like Acer Predator Helios 300. If not then it is a great laptop for productivity.
Keyboard, Trackpad & Webcam
I had a good experience with both, keyboard and trackpad. The trackpad has good travel. For those concerned about privacy can appreciate the hidden webcam in the keyboard. The camera has a 720p resolution but the angle might not be flattering.
Performance & Storage
The Matebook 14 is powered by the 11th generation Intel core processor. The model I got is the i7 variant with 16GB of DDRR Ram. The i7 quad-core processor of the tiger lake product family is designed for sleeker laptops.
The CPU runs from 2.8 gigahertz to 4.7 gigahertz. This laptop is almost 30 percent faster then its predecessor in performance.
It comes with integrated Intel Iris XE graphics, which is also more powerful than the previous model, delivering up to 147 percent faster graphics processing.
The Matebook 14 also features a 512GB SSD, which I think is not enough unless you add 1TB HDD. The browsing related tasks can be easily done. The benchmarking tools show some decent scores for both CPU and GPU performance.
Medium graphic intensive applications held up well with reasonable temperatures. The updated thermal design features two Huawei shark fin fans and two heat pipes that keeps it cool.
