OSRS Herblore Guide And Making OSRS gold

This guide will explain and help you level Herblore quickly.

Everyone who has played Old School RuneScape knows that it takes quite some time to level up a skill to 99. If you are a casual player, you will be lucky to max out any skill within a year. There is a reason why people joke that you should quit your job if you want to play Old School RuneScape.

This game is very grind-heavy, and it takes a significant amount of time to complete things in the game, especially skills.

A few skills aren’t so bad to level, though. One of these skills is Herblore. While it is tedious to level up this skill, it is also straightforward. It is a more accessible skill to level than something like Jewelcrafting. This guide will help you understand what Herblore is and how to level it up efficiently.

Without further ado, let’s jump into it.

What Is Herblore?

Herblore is a members-only skill in Old School RuneScape. This skill allows players to create potions from herbs, plants, and other ingredients. Potions made with the Herblore skill have a variety of effects. Most potions give players temporary stat boosts or preventive effects. More powerful potions will become available the more you level up Herblore.

A lot of these potions are beneficial when facing certain bosses. Potions like the Antifire potion or Anti-venom potion can completely negate specific bosses’ attacks. Creating potions and selling them is also a great way to make OSRS gold if you don’t need them.

Recommend Quests

Many quests give Herblore experience once completed. Luckily some of these don’t require high stats to get started. However, if you want to make potions with Herblore, you have to complete the “Druidic Ritual” quest. This quest is necessary to learn the skill. Once this quest is completed, Herblore should be level 3, and you are free to start the grind of leveling up the skill.

Here are some quests that can be completed that don’t have high requirements:

  • Druidic Ritual
  • Jungle Potion
  • Recruitment Drive
  • The Dig Site
  • Shades of Mort’ton
  • Zogre Flesh Eaters

Items To Consider

Other than a pestle and mortar, consider two items when training Herblore. These items aren’t needed at all, but they can prove slightly useful in the long run. If you don’t have these, there is no reason to go out of your way to obtain them.

  • Amulet of Chemistry – Gain a 5% chance to add one extra dose to the created potion.
  • Botanical Pie – This item will temporarily boost the Herblore skill by four levels.

Leveling Herblore

There are multiple ways to level up Herblore. There is a fast but expensive way or the slower, cheaper, and more profitable way. Assuming you want to make OSRS gold, the slower method is probably the best option. This guide section will cover a few cheaper practices.

Method 1: Crafting Attack Potions To Level 99

This method can still be costly, but making potions is a very efficient way of increasing the Herblore skill. Even if you want only to craft Attack Potions, it will still cost millions of gold in total to do so. Feel free to craft higher-quality potions if you have the budget to do so.

Method 2: Herb Cleaning

Herb cleaning is probably the slowest method, but it is also straightforward. You have two options when it comes to herb cleaning. You can manually click each one, which is the faster option, but it can be annoying. The other option is using auto-clean. Using auto-clean will be much slower, specifically about 3x slower. However, you have the upside of doing it while AFK.

Method 3: Making Tar

The last option is making tar. Making tar is similar to making potions. You will need a base ingredient and tar for the second. This method is cheaper than making potions but also offers less experience. It also isn’t as click intensive either.

The fastest option would be to make potions. You will start with making attack potions, then keep working your way up to Super Combat potions. Unless you are rich, this option isn’t for most people.

Conclusion

In short, Herblore is an easy skill to level, and there are many different methods to level it up. If you have the OSRS GP for it, you will be able to level Herblore pretty quickly. But if you want to make a profit, you can go the much slower route, but still easy. Once you have Herblore leveled up, you will be able to create powerful potions that can temporarily buff you in battle or sell them for OSRS gold. Just remember, even the fastest method can still take over 100 hours to reach the max level in a skill.
